Who out there is ready for the next wave of Marvel comic book movies? I know I am, after this past summer of Iron Man and The Hulk I am totally on board with all the rumors of the upcoming Marvel movies that will eventually lead to the Avengers Movie in 2011. Now that both movies are done and out on DVD the waiting begins for the next Marvel comics movie installment.
In the midst of all this waiting time we have ahead of us there has been a few juicy tidbits of news coming out of Marvel studios. The first bit of news came out regarding a significant change in the casting for Iron Man 2. Turns out that Terrence Howard and Marvel Studios could not come to an agreement on a contract for the next Iron Man so Marvel announced that his character is being replaced by Don Cheadle. I don’t know how you all feel about this move but I would have made any deal the studio was wanting to cut with me. Especially with all the rumors and hinting in the first Iron Man that this character may be getting his own silver Iron Man suit. I am sure this big of a change in actors will not hurt the Iron Man franchise in the least.
The other juicy bit of news comes with the release of The Incredible Hulk DVD. Turns out with the extra footage that is on the DVD we get to see a second reference to the upcoming Captain America movie. That right I said the second. In case you missed it go back to your Iron Man DVD and cut to the scene where Pepper Potts walks in on Tony Stark up in the hands of his robot arms getting the Iron Man suit off. If you look carefully in the back of Tony on his work bench you will see
what clearly looks like the shield of Captain America. The second one can be seen in an extra scene that is in the Incredible Hulk dvd, it’s in the opening scene when Bruce Banner is in the Arctic if you look carefully there is a quick scenery shot of the ice and snow and buried in there is a very faint image of a man and the shield of Captain America.
So the latest round up on the Marvel comic movies is another Iron Man in 2010 a movie with the latest title being Captain America: The First Avenger to be released early may of 2011 the later that year to be released in July the Avengers movie! I have seen some other rumors bounced around for possibly a Thor movie and maybe another Hulk but both of those seem to be more talk at this point.
