Outdoor Movies and the Resurrection of the Drive-In

The death of the drive-in was inevitable. Some may blame it on the land prices going up for those huge parking lots over the years, or simply T.V. viewing taking away that old tradition. Maybe it’s a combination of both, but still we still feel the charm going to see cinema outside. There’s a magic there that can’t be replaced, that I think Americans recognize best.
Some may find it a twist of coincidence that the technology which made society turn away from the drive-in, come back again with powerful new projectors and state of the art audio equipment and bring the scene back, albeit with a few differences.
The 21st century saw an upsurge of the do-it-yourselfer going outside and putting up their own “drive-in,”– not really a car park event (although this could be as you’ll read further) as a picnic blanket lay down-and-view event.

The Best Movies of their Era

in: Movies

Perhaps after reading about these classic movie titles and what they were in
their time of release you will leave your thoughts at the end with a comment or
two.

Magic Of The Old Classic Movies

Old Classic movies never lose their charm. They are evergreen and never go
out of style. The magic of old Classic movies remain in the
hearts of million of fans forever. Old classic movies are generally personal
favorites of many people. It becomes really difficult to choose some of the
films from the vast ocean of creativity. Style and creativity team up together
to make a movie classic. We will discuss a few old classic movies here.
Let’s
start with an all time favorite classic film, “Ben Hur”. This is an epic movie,
brilliantly made with effects and styles. The expensive sets and costumes make
the film grander. The fighting scenes are immortal and it is a favorite with all
ages. Charlton Heston played the title role and did an excellent job. Yule
Breyner was as good and as wicked as ever. The grandeur of the Roman Empire has
bewitched viewers all over the entire world.
Another film which is a real
Classic, happens to be ‘The Sound Of Music”. An adjective will be inadequate to
describe this brilliantly awesome film. An all time legend in its own right,
this film has been a favorite from generation to generation. Set in the backdrop
of World War I the film was shot in beautiful Austria. The songs are legendary
and the actors, Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer and those seven little
children of Captain VonTrapp were awesome.
Another vintage has got be “Gone
With The Wind”. It is a classic tale of romance, starring Clarke Gable and
vivacious Vivian Leigh. The immortal character of Reth Butler played By Clarke
Gable makes the film everlasting. Vivian Leigh never looked so beautiful. The
film was shot brilliantly in a far west location.
Old Classics include all
the works of the great master Charlie Chaplin. The wackiest of comedies created
with great mastery in the silent era will always be like the monuments, which
stand still even in the most adversities. “Lime Light” and “Great Dictator”
happen to be my personal favorite. The great master created some brilliant magic
on the screen in adverse conditions and when there were practically very little
gears, which are needed to make a film. Even without sound the master created
something that makes the viewers speechless.
Another old classic movie is
“Cleopatra”. The title character was played by Elizabeth Taylor. Her husband
Richard Burton also played an important role in this film. A nicely shot film in
the backdrop of Roman Empire, the film is one of a kind. Ravishing Elizabeth
created a history with her attire and look as Cleopatra. She looked stunning in
the film and acted radiantly. The film was a huge success in the Box
Office.
Lastly, a film, which needs to be mentioned while talking about old
classics is “Seven Brides For Seven Brothers” It is a very nice film to watch
with lots of humorous scenes and nicely portrayed characters. It is a feel good movie with all the
ingredients to make all the viewers happy and content at the end.
